Manga : Misc

I read all 18 volumes of Peach Girl (as well as 3 volumes of Ura Peach Girl, Sae's sidestory) last night. It was fun, although most characters were hard for me to relate to. I just... kept laughing at their issues. ;;; Maybe I'm not sensitive enough. ^^;;; And now I'm reading Cross Game, a slice-of-life manga by Mitsuru Adachi. It's amazing. *.* No, really. Adachi-sensei's style is simple, but there's a lot of talent behind that simplicity, and he's a fantastic storyteller and a powerful realist. He seems to be a very popular author in Japan (I mean, hey, Rumiko Takahashi herself considers him a rival - in a friendly way, yes, but still...), and I can tell why, he's so damn good. I've just finished volume 1 and I'm already thinking about buying it - a bit later, maybe in August. It's THAT awesome. @.@ Gee... I'll have to save quite a lot of money. ;;; I want to buy at least one book of Aoi Hana, and volume 1 of Cross Game, and on top of that, I absolutely must complete my Death Note collection (I own all volumes that feature Teru and also a couple of Arc I books, but that's not enough, obviously!). Hee. Oh well. Life's like that.

RT considers this guy a 'rival'? I guess I'll have to go check him out! XD

Somehow RT doesn't seem like she and someone who write a 'slice of life' manga would have the same demographic...

Thanks for the post, I'm always up for good recommendations for manga... I know so very few... (FMA, Witch Hunter Robin, Inuyasha, VK, Wolf's Rain... and... that's about it XD)

Well, they both write for shounen magazines, so that's their main connection, I guess. xD;;; And yes, check it out, it's a great manga. *_*

Ahahaha, don't feel bad for laughing at Peach Girl! I laughed too, and I couldn't really relate to the characters either. They were just, I dunno... so obsessed with being popular and with boyfriends and everything, and I just thought "wtf, back in high school I was obsessing over my grades and my future, and I didn't care about being popular as long as I had friends!" XD;

xD;;; Back in high school, I WAS somewhat interested in romance, but it was a... scientific kind of interest, in fact. xD;;; I wanted to make all sorts of experiments with love (and so I tried to pursue people of both genders, for the sake of variety xD;;;). Homosexual relationships seemed more interesting to me because they were less common and more... special. |D;;; I was really odd and not particularly romantic back then, I just wanted to experience something new and uncommon, like a fun new game. |D;;; Well, I still consider myself bisexual, but for different reasons, and my ideas about love have changed since then (I... don't experiment with people anymore, among other things). So... yeah, maybe the Peach Girl characters are more normal than me after all. xD;;;
